Love it! Can see very clearly! Good quality!
At first I thought I didn’t need to spend the money. I drilled holes in the top of a Tupperware container. Plant clippings last a day and would fall over. I finally bought 2 sets. It’s a must have. Milkweed cuttings stand straight and last days. I had no problems with cats on the platforms. Easy to vacuum out too.
I bought this after doing leaf feedings and keeping plants in jars. I have access to my own milkweed patch and wanted to better utilize the plants. This set up of tubes and a rack was perfect! The kit comes with two racks and multiple tubes. This enables me to set up one rack in the cage and have a back up. When it's time to get more plants I can set up the back up rack and tubes outside the cage and swap when ready with little disturbance to the cats. This also enables me to remove just one tube for another full plant when needed, or if I need to add more water (which happens only rarely!). If I have lots of hungry cats I can put both racks in and alter the configuration of the plants accordingly. I have never had cause to use all tubes at once - but I appreciate that I always have back up tubes when needed! I have never had a cat climb down the tubes - not sure if this is a texture issue, or what, but my cats now seem to only J on the leaves (my previous set up had them going to the top of the cage). Great set and I'm looking forward to using long into the future! (Picture of four 5th instars making quick work of several plants!)
Thank you for the best way to raise monarch butterflies for those of us who wanted to make a difference but didn’t think we could. Love not only the tools to raise them but also resources to help us know how to do it. Love my purchase
This size tower worked very well as we were able to put larger plants in it for the catepilers to eat. We had 30 make it to butterflies. Great product
These butterfly cubes are fantastic. I have 15 chrysalis in mine right now. Births any time now. And this tall cube allows for the milk weed to grow more. Already have seeds growing for spring. I will keep in these cubes so they are protected.
I ordered two of these and one came with a few pegs broken and a vial that had been crushed via transit. I notified the company and a real person responded right away and offered to send a replacement. These large vials and holders have been such a time saver as well! I have used for Eastern Black Swallowtail cats with dill and Queen Anne's Lace, which stays very nice in a vial of water. Also with Monarchs and milkweed. I love the more natural approach of having these in an enclosure out on my deck vs having individual caterpillars in containers inside. You will not regret purchasing these.
Very good enclosure for raising Monarchs. Poo poo platter is a must. Got two now so that we can have younger cats separate from the big ones.
So easy to use. Easier to clean, easier to keep cats from j hooking on rack.
The tubes are great for holding milkweed and I find they save a lot of time.
Wife is having a great time raising monarchs with it, just what she wanted
First time using these tubes for milkweed, and really do like them a lot! I've been using plastic water bottles up until now, and taping paper towels around the opening so cats couldn't fall in... What a great upgrade to my method. I have found with longer stalks though, sometimes they do get a little wobbly when trying to take the whole rack in or out of the habitat, so I use a second rack and take out one tube at a time. works great and I can then really clean the original rack before replacing in habitat and putting tubes back one at a time.
While I have tried a few butterfly raising habitats, this one is the very best. I have 12 in use right now.
This works good for stems although I made a couple of extra slits in the cap to be able to get the stems in it.
I have several of these cages and this most recent one is a new and improved design.
The door opening all the way down- very big improvement as is the netting on all four sides
as the previous cages had plastic on one side where the butterfly could not hold on.
The new netting is great for seeing through.
The only negative is that the metal frame is not as firm as in the past.
The new rack and floral tubes work so good. You can easily see the caterpillars on the rack or tubes. The tubes and rack are also very easy to clean. The caps of the floral tubes seem to hold up well without breaking. The tubes hold a good amount of water to keep the milkweed fresh. I am very pleased with both items.
Definitely a better option than the older version. Hope NOT to see any more chrysalis on a peg ever again!
Get yours before season ends
This make clean up much easier
Baby cube is just the right size. Nice cage.
Love it. Wish there were some that would fit my cylindrical cages that I bought elsewhere.
Super fast delivery and the cage is perfect!! Lots of room for milkweed and cats to crawl and keeps them safe!!
Spacious for leaves, stems, plants, and of course caterpillars and butterflies
These work quite well and are very sturdy!! Thanks again!!
Timely delivery, like the product!
Great cage. Nice and roomy and surprisingly Clear and easy to see the treasures inside!
I love the larger tubes for the milkweed. The peg racks are so helpful in keeping things neat and easy to manage. Makes cleaning much easier and quicker. Tony was awesome in helping me get a confusing delivery situation rectified. Great customer service!
Shipped quickly, works very well. 10 monarchs so far, many more to come! Thank you!!!
The rack and large floral tubes work great for my milkweed. The large tubes don't need to be filled as often and keep the milkweed fresh. This keeps me and my caterpillars happy. I purchased some last year and I'm buying more this year.
I can remove the entire rack with tubes, milkweed and cats with little to no disturbance for cleaning. I keep a small long spouted watering can handy and just pour water over the rack to wash it off. The big tubes hold a lot of water which keeps the milkweed fresh longer. A great innovation!
Cats ready to find a place to pupate can get under it. I use it for baby cages (short and tall) only with instar 1, 2 and 3 cats. Makes cleanups easier.
Once the caterpillars are easily visible, this size cage works well for instar 1 and 2. I cut shorter milkweed stalks and can stand them up so they’re not crawling on the bottom of the cage.
I have nothing negative to say. For Swallowtails and Monarchs this works for me and them.
When I bought my first milkweed plant, I didn’t realize how attached I became to making sure my caterpillars became butterflies. First, birds, then flies, and then wasps- they really need help and the cage made a major difference. All of them left the cage via jumping on a chopstick and sticking the chopstick near a flower.
