I love this cage! The clear window side is great to have so you can monitor how the Monarchs are doing. It’s easy to carry if you need to move the cage from one area to another. I also bought the plastic poop platter for the bottom of the cage which has a snug fit (and I highly recommend getting as well). The zippered drawbridge opens and closes easily. Great product!
I love the tubes and long peg boards! The tubes hold a decent amount of water. The tube top has a good seal around the tube, and the hole for the plant stalk is perfect—no worries about little cats slipping through or stalks swaying. The tube top is easy to remove when you need to add more water. The peg board firmly grips each tube—tubes won’t jostle or fall out when you’re moving them around or when taking the peg board out of the butterfly cage when cleaning. I highly recommend these. In fact, I bought a second set before they sold out!
The floral tubes are working wonderfully. The milkweed cuttings stay fairly fresh and firm for the caterpillars to munch. The plastic trays work as advertised, and it is easier to clean up after the munchers process the milkweed. :)
Perfect size, but I use it as a nursery for the eggs and newly hatched to keep them separate from the big cats. A clear pan for the bottom would be great
I didn’t have any monarchs this year. We had 33 black swallowtail caterpillars with 15 adult butterflies being set free and 10 chrysalises remaining through the winter!
These are valuable for raising monarchs and make it easy to keep the area clean.
This cage is so much better than my homemade cardboard and screen contraptions! Raised and released 20 monarchs this season. I will definitely order more for next season.
In the garden we were losing all of our Monarch caterpillars. In this tent probably 80 or 90% survive.
Very well made product. I wish camping tents were this well mad.
No need for paper towels. Small issue with cats crawling under edge. Quick and easy.
The tower butterfly cage is being used in our kindergarten class. They are learning all about Monarch butterflies from egg to hatch. The tower cage is perfect.
A great tool for keeping your caterpillers clean and safe.
Wow, this is a big cage. It can hold a lot of hungry cats and several peg stands. If you raise a lot of cats, this is the one to get.
I like the short pegs better than the long ones. It is easier to clean on a daily basis, and no chrysalis are being formed on them (unlike the long pegs). Recommended!!
I have raised Monarch butterflies for four years, and I have had great success using the big cube cage. The best feature is the drawbridge door which makes it so easy to add and remove cuttings to feed the cats, the door is out of my way while I clean the cage bottom and I can easily reach in to take my butterflies out to release them. Because it is so roomy, I have no worries about disturbing the chrysalises while still taking care of the caterpillars that are still eating the milkweed cuttings. I highly recommend this cage to successfully raise any variety of butterflies.
